Absurdity

At dinner on Saturday night, the situation in Haiti came up. My grandfather asked if I had heard of a guy named "Pat Robertson" and whether or not I had heard what his view on the situation is. I said no. He went on to tell me that this guy is a Christian Evangelist in the States who claims ridiculous things in amidst havoc. He claims that Haiti deserves what they got because of a pact they made with the devil many years ago. I was looking on YouTube, to see if I could find the accusation, and I found a television show that is responding to Pat's claims, and I was happy to see that not everyone is falling for his opinion.

Here's the clip: Pat Robertson - Haiti Response

On the flip side, I got an e-mail today regarding a church that I know, and that our church here in Windsor is close to. They were in Haiti when the earthquake hit on a missions trip. I didn't realize how close they were to all of the mayhem, the article brought me to tears. I am thankful that they got home alright, and hope to see them this weekend when we are at their church!

Here's the article: Mission Group in Haiti

Two verses come to mind:
Hebrews 13:5 - "For God has said, 'I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.'"
The next one I have cited a similar one previously (just from 2 Corinthians), but I think is very valid in what is happening around us with the disaster in Haiti:
1 Corinthians 12:6 - "He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us."

  1. I love that 1 Corinthians verse Colleen. How powerful and true that we are conduits of comfort to others in trouble. I see your life in that verse too.
