Argh

In class the other day, a colleague of mine passed me some Sticky Notes that have the word "argh" written on it. It was quite appropriate, as we were all feeling that way in the class at that moment, so it was the comedy we needed in order to get through the rest of the class.

It got me thinking about what "argh" truly means. No, it is not an official definition (as I have tried to google) but on Urban Dictionary it is defined as the following:

argh
1. An exclamation of annoyance, exasperation, or other negative factor.
2. the correct version of an expression of frustration or anger
3. Used to describe a feeling of frustration or confusion. Often used for school work or trying to understand someones lack of words. Its simple and straightforward.

Let's see...what makes me argh?

- people who hork/spit in public
- people who walk too slow
- when people don't treat me like an adult
- people/things that waste my time
- miscommunications that leave me on the outside

I could come up with more, but let's not be too negative here....

What I find most interesting, is that argh isn't actually a defined word. It is a phrase which is quite common in today's language. The definitions provided above definitely explains what argh is trying to express as people say it. (On a side note, I wonder how long it will take for it to be an official word - as sometimes when a word is made-up and used enough, you will find it in a dictionary!)

But, what happens after you argh? Do you do anything to get over it? Or to get through the emotion? It's not an easy question to answer, as it's very situation specific and it all depends on how serious the emotion is. Having said that, it's something that we need to be aware of, as there is no need to go crazy over something that just requires an exaggerated expression of emotion in order to get your feelings out. It's important to stay calm and take the situation as it is, and figure out where you are going next. I've learned over the past year or so, that I really just need to rely on God and "He will make my paths straight." (Proverbs 3:6) I am sure I have quoted that before in here, but it's the truth. No matter how frustrating a situation, God has an overall plan for your life and will use the frustration in His plan and will bring glory to the situation and your life in general. As long as you are focusing on God, and living your life to glorify His name, then He will take care of everything.

That's really all I have to say...at least for today...

So, what makes you argh?
