Rooted

So, recently the image of trees has been very prominent in my life. At school, in studying the Bible, on Ellen's show today, and from further back, at Blizzard last year.

The first place was actually in school, as we watched a clip from a movie called "Silence" discussing the importance of words. It was an interesting concept, so I decided to rent the movie and watch it. The storyline was around how an art teacher believed in a student of his. He gave each student an object or something that they would focus on for the school year. The main character got a "tree" as her object, and she complained, saying that she learned how to draw a tree in grade 4. Anyways, as the story continues, and she comes to find her "voice" in her life, her drawings get better and better and better and become absolutely amazing! Just shows you what some patience, practice, and a person that believes in you can do!

The second place was in the Bible. I am currently trying to read the Bible in 90 days, as the youth leader has challenged all the youth, and I wanted to join in to lead by example (and because I want to read the bible cover-to-cover: see my Bucket List). I had always heard of the importance of the "tree of knowledge" and how the fall of human kind came because Eve ate fruit from that tree. I can not even begin to imagine how beautiful the Garden of Eden was with all of it's trees, bushes, and flowers! As I started writing this, I was also reminded of the "theme" for the Canadian Baptist of Ontario and Quebec last year as "Rooted". I believe it was the 2nd weekend of the retreat last year (could've been the first but I don't remember), that the speaker really helped me understand how to be "rooted" in Christ, and I can finally say that I do feel that my life is rooted in Christ today, and hopefully forever! I still have my zipper pull that says "Rooted" on my CBOQ Youth sweater, and I love when I wear it, because it reminds me of how much my life has changed in the past year, for the better :).

Anyways, I was looking at old pictures today (as I used to upload to a site called Photobucket) and found this picture. It's one of my favourite photos that I took at Music Camp one year (yes, I went to Music Camp)...and one that I used as a final project (I think) for the photography class I took in Grade 11. I love nature scenery!

Oh the beauty that God has created for us, I am constantly in awe of the beauty He has placed us in, that being Earth.
Genesis 2:9 - "And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food.
