How Was YOUR Week?

Man, this breaks my heart. Statistics suck and slap you directly across the face. Maybe that's what we need as a society and as a church? - to wake up and realize that we are at war with the world and what the world offers versus what the church offers. We know that what Jesus Christ has to offer is better, but it's getting that message across to the youth of the world. To let them know they don't have to escape to drugs, alcohol, self-injury to feel better temporarily, when there is a loving Father who cares for them and is constantly available for them to reach out to and whom is currently reaching out waiting for them to open the door. It just eats me up inside thinking about how many people are missing out on something so wonderful and something that can heal them from the inside out.

This has also made me rethink the whole question, "How was YOUR week?" or "Did you have a good week?" - How about: "How are you?" or "Is there anything I can help with?" or "Anything you want to talk to someone about?" - just seems more appropriate and inviting for teenagers to open up to. Maybe they'll take the bite, maybe they won't - but just asking if they had a good week, that entails that it was supposed to be a good week and they won't necessarily want to give away that they had a negative experience somewhere in the week.

Hm........
